FBI Being Sued for Illigal Megaupload Takedown.

Megauplaod was taken down by the FBI not to long ago and 7 people including the owner have been arrested for profiting off distributing copyrighted content causing an estimated loss of over $500,000,000 dollars.

But according to some, the services provided by Megaupload are used by millions of people legally. Uploading their own personal information, data, backup information, documents for their business to share with others etc. Many users do not know if their private information is lost forever, if it will be examined, protected, of if they will ever be able to retrieve it.

Pirates Party International is gathering a list of users that lost valuable data due to the FBI takedown, to file an official complaint against the US authorities and to build a case.

  6. I'd heard they were going to do it. What I don't understand is how the FBI circumvented extradition laws in the first place. And since this was an international "sting" why wasn't interpol involved? I wish them success, but the cards are stacked against them.

  10. I hope this works and they get what they deserve. I don't upload a lot to MegaUpload but I did lose some files because of the take down. Just because the majority is using it to pirate stuff doesn't mean that everyone is doing the same.

  11. I used to be a member for Megaupload premium. I only used it because I hated that 72 min. limit they had.

I hope they win this suit against the FBI.

    1. Agreed. Even if Megaupload doesnt return, maybe it get the FBI and anyone to carefully do the takedown rather then just arrest and shut down the site. A lot of people had even bought the premium service the day it went down, and countless people lost legit legal info.
