ACTA and what it does

Ok so now that everyone knows what it is lets continue. ACTA is a treaty written in Europe in 2008. The signing took place at a ceremony at Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The treaty was signed yesterday (January 26th) by European nations, including Belgium, the UK, Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Bulgaria, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.

It has already been signed by Australia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore and the US. United States last year on October 1st

In October 28th 2012 75 top law professors signed and mailed President Obama saying ACTA needed to be halted outright or changed. It went ignored. When Poland announced January 19th 2012 that it would be signing ACTA 20,000 people went to the streets to protest, while Polish government sites got attacked and shut down. Despite the efforts of the people, the Polish ambassador yo Japan signed the ACTA treaty.

Please share with everyone you know on facebook twitter email smoke signal carrier pigeons and so on, about ACTA and its effects. We did a lot to get SOPA/PIPA shut down but ACTA is flying into law without much resistance of the people.

Do not think you will be fine because this is just about piracy, because its not. Do not think you will be fine because you don't break laws or copyright, because you wont be fine. This is just a step to censoring the Internet and the free flow of information.

    1. I was thinking writing about it but I assume most people know about it by now, but I might revisit it who knows. I agree though. Everyone was up in arms against SOPA/PIPA but they are not over ACTA or NDAA

    1. I do use it. And good for you for doing it! It may seem daunting at first but the site has a guide and there are several videos on YouTube. The videos are old but the software is the same, just looks little different.

If you have windows 7 dont worry about 3rd party disc burners. You have one built into windows. Just dont lose the rescue disc!

And if you want the strongest encryption go with whatever is slowest when you "benchmark" it usually is AES-TWOFISH-SERPENT goodluck!
