In case you have not heard, many websites are going to "blackout" in protest of SOPA or "Stop Online Piracy Act" which if passed will effectively kill the Internet as we know it. Along with SOPA is a bill called PIPA or "Protect IP Act" which to be honest is not to different from SOPA.
Anyway check the list of sites that will blackout tomorrow Jan. 18th
Here is a few sites joining the blackout:
- Wikipedia
- Mozilla
- Imgur
Check out the link and see who is blacking out. And while your at it look into SOPA/PIPA and its negative effects to Internet freedom.
Do you know if Facebook is blacking out?
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you
ReplyDeleteI think Facebook is going to have SOPA banners. Not to sure though.
ReplyDeleteSOPA is a load of crap. Anyone who agrees with it needs to get the shit smacked out of them.
ReplyDeleteYahoo had a poll asking if people support or disagree with SOPA but there was a third option saying i dont know what SOPA is.
DeleteOver 50% said they didnt know..
Everyone needs to tell their friends about this bill
Really interesting stuff here. Sopa really doesnt sound good.
ReplyDeleteI've got a lot of respect for wikipedia with their awareness campaign. SOPA needs to die. Now following!
ReplyDeleteFantastic list, I didn't see that yet. If the major players put their weight behind the blackout, it will surely make a huge impact; for that to happen, we have to keep up our pressure and voice our discontent.
ReplyDeleteTrue. Some of the supporters of SOPA are already saying they may need to rethink their stance lol. Even Obama came out and said he didnt like it.
DeleteIt`s so good to hear that these big sites are joining the fight against SOPA.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. When you have a bunch of heavy weight organizations throwing their weight around it can get things done and fast.
ReplyDeleteIts good to know about this...good decision taken :)
ReplyDelete>>Over 50% said they didnt know..
ReplyDeleteDamn misinformation
Hopefully it drops to 0% when they see google and wikipedia and reddit have done a blackout
DeleteHopefully the blackouts will make people notice it more and act against it.
ReplyDeleteI hope things like that never pass, internet should never be controlled in any way .
ReplyDeleteabsolute shit
ReplyDeleteSites like x videos must blackout too. :P
